“Could’ve, Would’ve, Should’ve”

Hello and Good Day! Hope You have been doing well. Thank You for taking a moment to read today’s ‘Terry’s Thoughts.’ Always appreciate You taking the time to read the articles!

It’s been a minute since my last post. July was a busy month and then Life threw us a very unexpected curve we had to deal with -and- a reminder of embracing each day and remaining close with Family and Friends!

As I continue to appreciate my ‘Encore’ phase, it becomes more clear that Life is about growth, understanding, and wisdom. Yet, more often than not, we stumble upon important life lessons a little too late in our life.

Boldness isn’t defined by your age. One interesting point I continue to discover is the common perception is that the older we get, the fewer risks we take. If we continue to get stuck on our old beliefs and ideas, we will limit our own growth during this important phase of our Life.

As the actress Jennifer Grey once said, “I don’t want to be spending time chasing a part of my life thats gone.”

This couldn’t be more relevant then during our retirement years.

Whether it’s embracing something new, staying physically active, setting new goals, or simply indulging in self-care – these are all within our control.

So if You find yourself feeling unhappy during your retirement years, remember that a change in daily habits and perspective might just be the key to unlock a happier and more fulfilling ‘Encore.’

The renowned poet, Maya Angelou once said, “If you don’t like something, change it. If you can’t change it, change your attitude.”

The journey toward an enjoyable ‘Encore’ is challenged with temptations and distractions. Retiring confidently requires discipline, patience and a steadfast commitment to yourself and your long-term goals. By focusing on what truly matters to You and maintaining realistic expectations You can navigate the complexities of retirement just as You did through your (working) life time.

Remember, it’s not about chasing trends. It’s about continuing to build upon the solid foundation You created during your life for a fulfilling and enjoyable ‘Encore‘ phase of life.

Yes, it’s tough to hear, but You are the only one responsible for your happiness.

This lesson is an empowering one. Once you realize that You hold the reins to your happiness, you’re no longer at the mercy of external circumstances.

Finding contentment within yourself and choosing to be happy regardless of your circumstances. It’s about making choices that align with your values and those that will bring You joy.

Even during our ‘Encore’ phase, in this fast-paced world, it’s easy to get caught up in the rush. I (still) find myself focusing on planning for the future or dwelling on the past that I forget to live in the present.

However, the most important point to remember is: Life is happening right now. This very moment is all we truly have.

Many of us learn this crucial lesson a bit too late, often after chasing future goals or dwelling over past mistakes.

Realizing the importance of being present can transform your life. By choosing to live in the moment, You can fully experience life as it unfolds. We should spend more of our time appreciating the simple joys, cherish shared moments and truly engage with each day around us.

As I am sure You have heard many times, “remember, there’s a reason it’s called the present”.

Reflecting on life lessons we have experienced, we all have recognized a few perhaps a bit too late.

If so, know that you’re not alone. According to psychologists, 97% of people come to understand these truths later in life.

However, the importance lies not in the exact moment we learn them but in the journey and growth that come with the experience and knowledge we gained.

If there is one key takeaway to remember, it’s that life is a journey of continual learning.

Please continue to make the most of your days -and-

Never quit searching, never settle and never give up seeking your greater purpose!
