Hello and Good Day! Hope You have been doing well -and- the days have been good to You.
Thank You for taking a moment out of your day to stop by ‘Terry’s Thoughts.‘ I always appreciate You!
It’s been a minute since my last article. For once, it has been nothing more than enjoying our days including a couple of weekend trips for good occasions, ( that high school 50th class reunion and then a return to our high school for their Homecoming weekend for Denise to join in with a few of her high school cheerleading team mates to cheer during the football game… don’t worry, the high school only permitted them to cheer for a quarter and a half – their insurance did not permit further time to limit their liability exposure- lol – Denise looked great on the field; better than her high school days! )… and so, here we are at starring at the end of October already.
Maybe it was the moment of the 50th Class Reunion which invoked that nostalgic feeling -or- maybe since we have had a wonderful stretch of (Fall) weather in Central Indiana with alot of sunshine … something generated the FEEL GOOD About Yourself. I don’t know.
Whatever “IT” was, reflecting on the experiences that have made me who I am has been a good journey of becoming more self-aware at this stage of my Life. The hardest part of Life is wanting to understand who You really are underneath all the layers we have accumulated through our Life’s experiences and moments.
It’s, (one can argue), more important during our ‘Encore’ phase to identify your purpose in this phase of our Life. I came upon this quote from Chadwick Boseman which sums it up perfectly; “… purpose is an essential element of You… the struggles along the way are only meant to shape You for your purpose.”
It’s not the experience and process of living our dreams and finding out what we love from a place of purpose and presence. We can only act in the present in service of our Life’s goals.
As Exkhardt Tolle states in the Power of Now; “… the more You are focused on time past and future, the more You miss the Now, the most precious thing there is.”
I have commented before that while we are blessed in this life with this life…use it!
Stop deferring what You have always wanted to do—stop deferring what You know You were meant to do, what You know is right to do. Don’t be arrogant. Continue to be humble. Whatever it is, make the time, let it relax and strengthen You and fulfill You. You deserve it -and- need it!
I’m finding a comfort with accepting our early years is about Accumulating, ( experiences, moments, learning thru failure – although we should never stop learning thru failure), -and- now, during our ‘Encore’ phase it’s about Editing/Accepting, (reduce expectations). I’m not saying we just sit down and accept who we are/where we are … It’s even more critical for us to continue expanding our knowledge, remaining active, taking care of our health and well being (emotional and mental), etc.
I’m saying; give yourself the credit to be grateful for your accomplishments, achieving this level of success reaching the ‘Encore’ phase.
Take it upon yourself to understand the relationship with our thoughts and emotions -and- examine the source and changes to that energy…then, release those habitual thoughts and emotions which limit our level of consciousness, (I’m continuing to work on this), and get to living your life with no regrets.
Should we continue to fail in acknowledging our success in life or the progress we are making with accepting change, we will rob ourself of the joy these moments bring to us.
Please continue to take care, make the most of each day -and- remember;
Never quit searching, never settle and never give up seeking your greater purpose!
