Hello and Thank You for taking time out of your extremely busy schedule to read the article… always appreciated!

I recently finished reading; ‘Relentless,’ by Tim Grover. Tim works with championship and Hall of Fame athletes and specializes in sports performance and motivation. Tim’s own story on how he rose to this level and achieved his world-renowned status is worth reading on it’s on merit. There was a statement Tim made to Dwayne Wade, (Miami Heat NBA Hall of Famer), during Game 5 of the NBA Finals in 2012 when the Miami Heat were playing the Oklahoma City Thunder; “… in order to have what You really want, You must first be who You really are.”

As the days continue to move along quickly, and dare I say; the more I age, I am discovering more than ever it’s a time to better understand myself and my place in the world. I can better appreciate what makes me tick, what makes me happy, and what I should steer clear from, (for me, that’s not getting caught up in the future.. that is; what’s next!).

Please, do not take my statement as one that indicates I do not / did not appreciate who I am or what I have accomplished -and- most importantly what I have been blessed with in my life!

These past couple of years have allowed me to become more aware of the fleeting nature of life. And with this awareness, I have found that deeper appreciation for the moments, experiences and people that bring me the most joy in my life.

I am appreciating the beauty in the moment, rather than constantly worrying about what’s next or dwelling on the past, (OK, for those that know me well, they are chuckling right this moment and saying; ” yea, right!”).

I have always been mindful of the many blessings in my life, all the special people that have come across my path and did so much for me and most importantly, my wonderful Family that defines why I do what I do!

It’s now becoming more about gratitude! I’m appreciating this emotion more and is allowing me to feel more connected, content and truly alive!

This level of gratitude changes my perspective. It allows me to accept the beauty in everyday moments and makes me realize how rich I have always been. It’s a habit that will continue to bring warmth to my heart and peace to my mind.

I have used these two statements in the past -and- will resurrect them as I feel they are worth repeating; “the secret to having it all, is knowing You already do -and- enjoy where You are on the way to where You are going!

The ‘Encore’ phase of our life is not about becoming older, but perhaps wiser and more in tune with ourselves.

The habits we adopt during this time will greatly influence our happiness and overall satisfaction with this phase of life.

It’s important to remember that retirement is not an end, but a new beginning – an opportunity to continue exploring, learning, growing and most importantly, enjoy the fruits of our labor.

Our ‘Encore’ phase is not about perfection. It’s about making small consistent changes that align with good habits. It’s about creating a lifestyle that supports our well-being and happiness.

Becoming a better version of ourself is not about becoming someone else. It’s about improving on who You already are and making choices that lead to ongoing development and fulfillment. It’s about shifting our focus from what You lack to what You have.

Remember what Tim Grove said to Dwayne Wade; … in order to have what You really want, You must first be who You really are.” This will foster positivity and happiness. Not only will it allow You to become a better version of yourself, it will also provide the power to transform your perspective on life as a whole.

Finally, I would say it’s important to stay true to yourself. In this crazy world where we are constantly bombarded with messages about who we should be, what we should do, and how we should live our lives. It’s just as easy to lose sight of who we truly are in this later phase of our life… it’s more important for us to understand the importance of authenticity — listen to our inner voice, continue to stay true to our values and don’t allow external influences to sway our decisions.

It’s about being the best version of You, not someone else’s version of You -and- at the end of the day, You are the one living your life.

So make sure it’s a life that continues to reflect who You truly are -and- remember;

NEVER QUIT SEARCHING, NEVER SETTLE, NEVER GIVE UP SEEKING YOUR GREATER PURPOSE
