Hello and Good Day…Thank You for taking a moment to stop by and check out my article(s) -and- if You are a returning reader, greatly appreciate your dedication to ‘Terry’s Thoughts!’
It has been said: “… we have two lives; the one we learn by -and- the one we live after!”
I sometimes struggle with this statement suggesting, at least to me, there is a stop to one life, (“the one we learn by” ), -and- then a beginning of a new life, (“the one we live after”). I don’t take the statement literally.
I remembered this statement during the early months of my ‘Encore‘ phase when I was reflecting upon my past, (working/career), life.’ Was I to take all I learned and experienced to reshape my life until this point -and- begin living my next phase accordingly -and- that’s it?
I accept the profound message inherent in this statement to be an extremely important reference for us to appreciate that through the power of learning, we can and should make the necessary adjustments to live a better, well balanced life in the days ahead.
I believe accepting this statement literally could be a reason some begin to feel “invisible” when we reach this ‘Encore’ phase of life. We might accept we just begin to live our (new) life from the lessons learned from our working/career years. We may accept that we had our time/chance -and- we begin to lose our purpose since we no longer have our position we occupied from the previous life when we were noticed -and- go about living our, (new), life; or is it?
Sometimes You have to walk away from how You thought it would be and live in how it is.
I don’t see the learning we achieve each day in our life stopping, unless we choose to do so. Thus, I don’t see the end of the one life to begin the other life. Rather, I see our life as a continuous journey of improvements from the valuable lessons, experiences, signs that we are blessed to receive, etc.
They say in physics; ” that as our island of knowledge grows so does the shore of our ignorance—we must be humbled by the distance that looms in front of us.” We must never think that we have arrived. We must embrace the fact that the more you know, the more there is to know.
Life is a Mission and we each have an unique mission. The most important contributions are ahead of us — this thinking keeps us alive, and gives us purpose and meaning in our life every day.
Maybe it’s time to rethink what getting older is all about. Maybe, we decide to continue growing with a sense of wonder and a deep appreciation for the opportunity to grow more, create more and be more.
So while You are blessed in this life with this life…use it -and- always remember;
“Never quit searching, never settle and never give up seeking your greater purpose!“
Wishing You and your Family a Wonderful and Blessed Thanksgiving Holiday with your Family and Friends!
Take Care!
