“When was the last time You did something for the first time”

Hello and Good Day. Hope You have been doing well and making the most of your days.

I appreciate You taking a moment of your time to visit ‘Terry’s Thoughts!’ I have not published an article for some time. I wish I could claim “writer’s block.” I can not. I let myself get caught up in the emotions of life events and I found myself consumed by these emotions. I know, it’s just natural. However, I have a (bad) habit of allowing certain life events to take more of my time than I should. You would think I would have learned by this time in my life; we should put our time energy into those matters which have the most meaning to us. Ok, enough of the philosophy lesson.

I have mentioned adding yoga to my work out routine of weights training and cardio (walks on the trails at our State Park that is in our neighborhood). My Wife, (Denise), and I have added both hot yoga and vinyasa. So, every Tuesday morning we head to hot yoga and Thursday evening and (some) Sunday mornings, (depends upon GrandSon’s sport schedules), we have vinyasa. Now, I must admit each of the sessions, kick my butt! I do enjoy each of the sessions and they have added a lot of flexibility back into this maturing body! (lol)

At our hot yoga studio, they have a sign with the statement I used to title this article; “when was the last time You did something for the first time.” Each time I read the statement, I pause and challenge myself to just do that.

Also, this statement reminded me of a quote from Gandhi;“…Live as if You were to die tomorrow. Learn as if You were to live forever.”

So while we are blessed in this life with this life…use it! Stop deferring what You have always wanted to do. Stop deferring what You know You were meant to do, what You know is the right thing to do. We don’t have to be arrogant – we must be humble. Realize we cannot assume we will get six more months, let alone x-number of more years. Whatever it is, make the time, let it relax and strengthen and fulfill You. We deserve it -and-need it.

As I am shaping my Encore life, I am accepting it’s ok to let go a little at a time; a bad memory, a negative habit. I am accepting that little by little to shed what no longer serves me. We soon discovery that even though we gave up many things, there is no feeling of loss, what will gain is far more valuable.

So, do yourself a favor and give yourself permission to have the leisure time in your time. And as Cynthia Covey Haller wrote in her book with her Father, Stephen Covey; “Live life In Crescendo.” A reference to a musician creating a song. It builds in momentum, energy and power. Allow your life to continue building, learning, experimenting -and- don’t forget; “when was the last time You did something for the first time.” And if it has been some time, get to it!

Continue to take care and make the most of your days!

Never quit searching, never settle and never give up seeking your greater purpose!
